Community Land Management Plans

We have Community Land Management Plans that set out how we manage Council-owned land, and how it can be used by the community. When additional land comes into Council ownership (mainly open space created through land division) a new Plan is prepared for that land.

Public consultation takes place before Council adopts any Management Plan. These Plans have been prepared by Council in accordance with the requirements of Section 196 the Local Government Act 1999.

You can read our Community Land Management Plans.

Register of Community Land

The Register lists all land owned by or under Councils care and control that has the classification of Community Land. Some Council owned properties are not classified as Community Land and are therefore not included in the Register.

The Register is updated when additional land comes into Council ownership (mainly open space created through land division). Public consultation must take place should Council sell or establish a long-term lease over any Community Land.

The Register of Community Land has been prepared by Council in accordance with the requirements of Section 207 of the Local Government Act 1999.
