Illegal dumping is a crime. Clean up and disposal costs us time and money that could be better spent in making our community better.
How to report illegal dumping
If you see or suspect someone dumping waste illegally, you can report it to Council.
If it is safe to do so, please get the following information:
- where the dumping occurred
- what material was dumped
- a description of the person
- vehicle registration number and description
Then report it to us via our online Customer Portal. You will be able to attach up to 3 images to help us with your request.
If the dumped rubbish is posing a safety hazard, causing danger or contains materials that you feel could pose a risk to the community, you can report this directly to us by phone so that some can attend as a priority. Please call our 24/7 line on 8408 1111.
Local nuisance, littering & illegal dumping
It is illegal to litter and dispose of waste on public land within the City of Charles Sturt. This is under the Local Nuisance and Litter Control Act 2016.
If you dump waste illegally, you could receive an on the spot fine of up to $1,000.
