Want to get more sustainable with our libraries?
Our libraries have a countless number of environmental resources, such as books on sustainable living, eco-friendly DIY projects and green technology. View them on the catalogue here: Books | Magazines
And don’t forget, our Digital Library is always open – with some great free resources on green living like ebooks, e-audiobooks. Check out these links: Libby, BorrowBox and Hoopla.
We also offer these services:
Kitchen caddies – Don’t throw out your food scraps! It's easy to recycle your food waste and stop it going to landfill. Our free kitchen caddies are for residents of the City of Charles Sturt - and are available at any of our five branches.
Battery and mobile recycling - Don’t throw these into landfill! We have one collection bin for both batteries and mobile phone disposal at all five of our branches.
X-Ray Bays - Recycle your old X-Rays at Ngutungka West Lakes and other locations (listed here). This service is delivered in partnership with Ecocycle, and helps divert waste from landfill and recover valuable materials like silver and plastic for reuse.
Home Energy Toolkit - Borrow one of these do-it-yourself kits from our library and complete a home energy audit. The simple step-by-step process will help you understand and reduce your household’s energy consumption.
Library of Things - Save money and access a variety of popular items you only need once in a while - like party supplies, electronics, and vlogging kits!
Make, Bake, Decorate Collection Why spend a fortune on kitchenware you may only use once when you can borrow it instead?
Hard-to-Recycle Station (only at Hindmarsh Library) - Drop off items such as spectacles, spent cosmetics, oral care, pens and markers, cables and connectors, small electronics and even old X-ray films.
