Football Park Usage

The City of Charles Sturt manages Football Park, a key outdoor facility used for various sports and recreation by the community, clubs, and groups. The surrounding land has been gradually sold and developed by Commercial & General. As part of their development obligations, the Developer transferred ownership of Football Park to the Council as an open space contribution.

The site is currently licensed to the SANFL on a non-exclusive licence to utilise for a 42 year-period.

A non-exclusive licence means the SANFL would use the oval to a maximum as follows:

  • Monday to Friday - weekly average of 12 hours (varied hours)
  • Saturday and Sunday – 5 hours per one weekend day (varied hours)
  • A maximum of 90 hours per month (22.5 hours per week)
  • For many months of the year the SANFL usage is significantly lower than these figures, with actual training requirements averaging just 68.5 hours per month
  • Community access to the oval will be available for a minimum of 84% of daylight hours
  • The training days & hours many vary due to weather, scheduling and other reasons

This non-exclusive licence gives our community access to the oval at all other times and means this is a shared arrangement between the City of Charles Sturt community and the SANFL.
