Beauty, hair and tattoo businesses

For public safety, all beauty, hair and tattoo businesses are assessed by an Environmental Health Officer for compliance. This is under the Public Health Act 2011.

Let us know if you're opening or taking over a hairdresser, beauty salon or tattoo parlour. Complete the Hairdresser, Beauty & Skin Penetration notification form and send into Council for access to our regular information.

Along with the requirements above, you may require planning approval to open the new business. For further information, please contact the Development Team on 8408 1111.

Do you have concerns about a hairdresser, beauty salon or tattoo parlour? With any skin penetration, infection control is vital.

Call our Environmental Health Team on 8408 1111 to discuss any concerns you have about businesses within the City of Charles Sturt.

Most people go to established studios. Established businesses are required to comply with high standards of infection control to reduce the spread of infectious diseases such as hepatitis B, C and HIV/AIDS. Others may place their health at risk by going to amateurs.

Read our Healthy Body Art brochure for consumers on healthy tattooing and piercing.
