West Beach Surf Life Saving Club
The $8.5 million redevelopment of the West Beach Surf Life Saving Club is now complete.
The Club has been a much-loved community landmark for many years and the design of the new building features modern facilities to provide much-needed support to current volunteer surf lifesavers, as well as a foundation to train new members with core lifesaving skills. Stand-out upgrades include a first aid room with ambulance access, new patrol control room, gym, training and conference room, change rooms, and greater storage area to house vital lifesaving equipment.
The redevelopment also included the new upstairs West Beach Surf Club Bar & Bistro, which has become a prime destination for dining and functions due to an increased capacity, wrap-around balcony with ocean views, and improved accessibility with the installation of ramps, an elevator, and large accessible bathrooms.
Mayor Angela Evans said the redeveloped West Beach Surf Life Saving Club was an amazing asset which will help residents and visitors alike enjoy our beautiful coastline.
“The West Beach Surf Life Saving Club has always been a place where our community can come together. We are fortunate to have such passionate volunteers in our community who will now have improved facilities available to coordinate programs and supervise beachgoers of all ages," Mayor Evans said.
“We are proud at the City of Charles Sturt to support this redevelopment and officially open the upgraded facility to our community."
The rebuild was collaboratively funded by the City of Charles Sturt, Federal Government, State Government, Surf Life Saving SA and West Beach SLSC.
