We know that biodiversity is an important part of managing a healthy and sustainable City. Our Biodiversity Action Plan 2017-2030 makes it part of our ongoing strategic development plan. This is the first biodiversity-focused plan for the City of Charles Sturt.
We're working to protect and enhance our flora and fauna habitats. We are doing this through ongoing management of new and existing sites. It will improve and minimise threats to urban biodiversity. It will also provide opportunity for community education and interaction.
Managing our biodiversity
Urban forests can improve and enhance our biodiversity. We know that maintaining our urban forests is critical for the health and wellbeing of our environment and community.
We're also managing aquatic environments like rivers, lakes, ponds and wetlands.
We take a holistic approach to managing biodiversity within the City of Charles Sturt. We do this through our Biodiversity Action Plan. It provides direction of our City and Community. It helps us work together to manage our local biodiversity.
The plan involves regular reviews and monitoring. It includes environmental improvements and ways that we can adapt to climate change.
