Trimmer Parade Stormwater Drainage Upgrade

Trimmer Parade Stormwater Drainage Upgrade

We’re upgrading stormwater drainage along Trimmer Parade in Seaton to help reduce the risk of flooding during heavy rain and improve how stormwater is managed across the area.

The project will replace ageing drainage infrastructure between Greenview Drive and Tapleys Hill Road, helping to better protect nearby homes, businesses and streets while supporting a safer and more sustainable City into the future

Why the upgrade is needed:

The existing drainage system along Trimmer Parade is ageing and can no longer carry the amount of stormwater needed during heavy rainfall.

By upgrading the system, we can:

  • better manage stormwater during heavy rain
  • reduce the risk of flooding affecting nearby homes, businesses and streets
  • improve safety during rain events
  • support future drainage improvements across the surrounding area
  • make sure our infrastructure can continue to support our growing community into the future.

You can learn more about Stormwater Management in our City here.

What we’re doing:

We’ll be upgrading around 1.3 kilometres of stormwater drainage along Trimmer Parade, replacing the existing system with new underground drainage designed to carry more stormwater during heavy rainfall.

The works will include installing new underground pipes and drainage pits, connecting them into the existing network, making some necessary adjustments to utilities, and reinstating the road and surrounding areas once works are complete.

Project stages:

Stage 1 – Greenview Drive to Frederick Road
Approximately 500 metres of new trunk drainage will be constructed between Greenview Drive/Stephen Terrace and Frederick Road.

Stage 2 – Frederick Road to Tapleys Hill Road
Approximately 800 metres of new drainage will continue from Frederick Road to Tapleys Hill Road. Stage 2 will follow the completion of Stage 1.

Stage 1 - completedSeptember 2027
Stage 2 - construction beginsOctober 2027
Stage 2 - completed April 2028

These dates are indicative and may change as the project progresses.

What to expect during construction:

Trimmer Parade is an important road for our community, so keeping people moving and maintaining access to homes and businesses will be a key focus throughout construction.

Traffic management will be in place during the works, and there may be temporary lane closures, detours or changes to access at different stages of construction.

We’ll work to maintain:

  • access to residential and commercial properties
  • safe pedestrian and cycling routes
  • traffic flow along Trimmer Parade
  • regular waste and hard waste collection.

Residents and businesses directly affected by works will be contacted ahead of construction.

Working with our community:

We know major infrastructure works can cause disruption, particularly when they take place along a busy road.

We’ll provide regular updates as the project progresses and work closely with nearby residents, businesses and other stakeholders to help minimise impacts wherever possible.

Project funding:

This project is supported by the Australian Government’s National Emergency Management Agency through the Disaster Ready Fund and South Australian Government via the Stormwater Management Authority.
