Parks, reserves and playgrounds

Yes. All City of Charles Sturt parks and reserves are available for the public to enjoy.

There are parks that feature facilities such as toilets, BBQs, picnic tables, fenced playgrounds and off-street parking that are more suitable for holding an event. You can search for parks with these facilities.

All parks within the City of Charles Sturt are a shared space for the public to use, permission is required if you intend to use the park for any of the following:

• a large public event/activity
• Birthday Party, Baby Shower or family gatherings etc with 50+ people
• bringing or hiring any additional infrastructure that's not already at the park e.g. staging, fencing, marquees (larger than 3m x 3m), jumping castles, portable toilets, etc.
• providing or hiring professional catering e.g. a food/coffee truck/van
• requiring vehicle access to the park
• requiring adjoining roads to be closed for your event/activity
• hiring entertainment e.g. petting zoo, face painting, jumping castles etc.
• filming (professional) e.g. TV show, etc.

Yes, there are parks within the City of Charles Sturt that are suitable for a marquee without approval (weighted only, not pegged into the ground, and no larger than 3m x 3m).

Any marquee larger than 3m x 3m will require you to complete a SpacetoCo booking and pay for irrigation marking so that your marquee can be pegged.

Yes, weddings are welcome at the City of Charles Sturt!

To ensure your special day runs smoothly, please ensure you book your chosen reserve through SpacetoCo.

This helps us check that no major events or large maintenance works are scheduled at the same time, it also gives us the chance to give the area a fresh mow and tidy, so it's looking its best for your celebration.

We encourage people to utilise our outdoor environments for special occasions but parks within the City of Charles Sturt remain a shared space for the public.

Please be aware that public spaces operate on a first come, first served basis, meaning a booking does not grant exclusive use. This includes BBQs and shelters, which cannot be reserved, even with a booking.

To secure your preferred spot, we recommend arriving early and setting up (e.g., placing chairs, decorations, etc.).

Additionally, please remember that setting up certain equipment, devices, or amusements without a Council permit may breach Council By-Laws. If you’d like to add anything to your booking, please let us know.
