We're upgrading Sam Johnson Reserve
Sam Johnson Reserve is a prominent sporting amenity in Renown Park and home to the Fitzroy Community Club. Formed in 1987 as a merger between the former Renown Park Football Club, St Dominic's Football Club and St Peter's Y.C.W. Football Club, the Club is the home ground for the Fitzroy Men’s Football Club, the Fitzroy Women’s Football Club, the Fitzroy Junior Football Club, the Fitzroy Cricket Club, Fitzroy Breakaway Netball Club and Fitzroy Darts Club.
What's being upgraded?
The $5.5m project, will see the existing building refurbished, with the exception of the kitchen which has been upgraded in recent years. With internal reconstruction, a northern extension and a fully detached away changeroom building, the redevelopment will deliver new home and away changerooms to current AFL facility guideline standards including match officials rooms.
New amenities include a new gym space, committee room, merch store, medical room, general amenities and bar facilities, supporting the club into the future for increased inclusivity and participation. Updated glazing in the function space, new terrace area and large canopy structures will significantly enhance the experience for spectators and visitors.
