It is part of Australia’s history that disasters have had a significant and sometimes lasting impact on individuals, communities and the natural and built environments in which we live and work.
While such events often cannot be prevented, State and Local Governments, businesses, Communities and individuals have a clear duty to plan and prepare extensively, so that the response and recovery is optimal.
Community Emergency Management
The safety and wellbeing of residents is a priority for the City of Charles Sturt and the purpose of this plan is to provide our community with:
- Knowledge of the emergency risks that exist in the local area
- Information to support the role the community can have in an emergency
- The ability to support each to become resilient in an emergency event or disaster
Being prepared may reduce the negative consequences of an emergency event.
