School holiday sports program

We are responding to current advice from relevant state and federal government agencies in relation to COVID-19 (formerly Coronavirus) and as a result the City of Charles Sturt has made the decision to cancel the upcoming School Holiday Sports Program for the April School Holidays. We have made the decision to ensure the safety of our sporting providers, club volunteers, participants and the general public.

Whilst we are disappointed to make this decision, we appreciate your support and involvement in offering free sporting opportunities to local kids as part of the SHS program. We hope you can be involved again later in the year.

Children aged 3-17 years are invited to join us each year during the April and October School Holidays for our special School Holiday Sports Program.

The program aims to provide an avenue for young people to:

  • Try new or different sport and recreation activities FREE of charge
  • Increase their level of physical activity
  • Learn about creating a healthy lifestyle through sport and recreation
  • Boost their self esteem and self-confidence
  • Make new friends

Last year there were more than 3,600 kids that participated in the program.

With over 24 sporting clubs and organisations involved this year, children can choose to participate in sports such as:
  • AFL Football
  • Baseball
  • Bicycle Racing
  • Cheerleading
  • Croquet
  • Dance
  • Dragon Boating
  • Fencing
  • Hockey
  • Karate *
  • Lawn Bowls
  • Multi-Sports
  • Roller Skating
  • Rugby Union
  • Soccer
  • Softball
  • Table Tennis
  • T-ball
  • Tennis
  • Yoga

*Some sessions are available for kids with special needs.

By registering for these events you have read, understood and consented to the following:

The City of Charles Sturt and all participating clubs take no responsibility for any death, injury or damage to any person or property occurring out of it, or in consequence of the School Holiday Sports Program.

Should it be necessary for my child to have any medication or dental treatment while attending the clinics, and if I cannot be contacted, permission is given for the coach or coordinator to use their judgement in obtaining the most appropriate treatment required.
