Cardiac arrest is one of the leading causes of death in Australia. Automatic External Defibrillators (AEDs) can increase the chance of survival in an emergency situation before an ambulance arrives.
AEDs can be used by the general public and will provide voiced instructions to guide the user. Once active, the AED will deliver a measured electrical shock to restore the normal effective cardiac rhythm in the patient - you cannot hurt someone by using an AED.
