River Torrens Linear Park Bank & Scour Protection Project
The River Torrens Linear Path is a popular recreational path, where many locals walk and cycle along the river. However, some parts of the river have eroded, making these areas unsafe for people using the path.
Works to repair the pedestrian and cycling path along the north side of the River Torrens between Kooralla Grove and Findon Road is set to commence in February 2025.
Construction timing:
The work will be undertaken by SEM Civil, with a start date of February 2025 and completion approximately late July 2025.
Update July 2025:
The River Torrens Bank Stabilisation Project is now in its final stages of construction. Stormwater connections for the adjoining St James development, along with construction of the shared-use path, are currently in progress.
The path is expected to reopen early to mid-August 2025, subject to weather conditions and any unforeseen delays. The project duration has been extended due to challenging site conditions and the addition of stormwater works through the riverbank.
Work hours:
SEM Civil will undertake works between the hours of Monday to Friday, 7am to 5pm. Some Saturday work may be required.
Temporary walking / cycling detours:
- The pedestrian path on the north side of the river will be closed between Kooralla Grove and Findon Road.
- Pedestrians and cyclists can use Findon Road on the south side or the footbridge between Torrens Ave and Canino Drive, 500 metres east of the Findon Road bridge.
Please refer to the detour map:
