Our Proposed Budget 2026/27

8 May 2026

Draft Annual Business Plan 2026/27 consultation has closed.

Thank you to everyone who provided feedback on our Draft Annual Business Plan 2026/27.

Consultation closed at 5pm on Friday, 8 May 2026, and your feedback will help inform the final plan before it is presented to Council for consideration and adoption in June.

We know many households are feeling the pressure of rising costs. This has been front of mind in preparing this year’s budget, alongside increasing costs across construction, materials, energy, labour, insurance and service delivery.

The draft budget focuses on maintaining the services our community relies on, renewing essential infrastructure and investing in projects that support a growing and changing City.

Key proposed investments include:

  • $14.2 million for major road reconstruction and renewal
  • $10.9 million for sporting club facilities and equipment
  • $8.8 million for stormwater improvements
  • $3.4 million for reserve and playground upgrades
  • $857,000 for the continuation of tree canopy and street planting programs, plus $1.38 million recurrent funding

Together, these areas represent almost $40 million in proposed investment towards keeping our City connected, greener and more resilient.

The proposed average rate increase is 5.11%, plus 1.10% growth from new developments. This supports the delivery of everyday services, infrastructure renewal and key projects across our City.

With property values changing across the community, we know some people may be unsure how this affects their rates. An increase in property value does not automatically mean Council collects more revenue overall. The total amount needed from rates is set first, and property values are then used to help calculate how much each property pays. More information about how rates are calculated is included in the Draft Annual Business Plan.

Thank you again to everyone who took the time to have their say and help shape the year ahead for our City.
