Multicultural Action Plan Launched

6 October 2026

We have launched a new Multicultural Action Plan to strengthen inclusion, access and participation across our organisation and community.

Developed through the South Australian Government’s Multicultural South Australia Ambassador Program, the Plan includes 22 actions to strengthen cultural awareness and help embed the principles of the South Australian Multicultural Charter into our workplace, services and community engagement.

Our City is home to a rich mix of cultures, languages and experiences, with more than 41 per cent of residents having both parents born overseas and almost 30 per cent of households speaking a language other than English at home.

Mayor Angela Evans said the Plan recognises diversity as one of our strengths.

“Our City is enriched by the many cultures, languages and traditions that make up our community," she shared.

“This Action Plan will help us better understand and respond to the needs of our culturally diverse communities, while ensuring everyone feels welcome, included and connected.”

Over six months, staff from across our organisation participated in workshops, training and planning activities to identify opportunities to strengthen cultural awareness and responsiveness.

We’ve already begun implementing the Plan and will continue to monitor our progress through Council’s existing reporting processes.
