On Monday 28 April Council considered a report regarding fishing at Freshwater Lake.
Council endorsed the decision to leave the current By-Laws unchanged. Council also endorsed a dedicated and targeted education campaign to support responsible fishing, and respecting our natural environment.
The endorsed approach includes visible signage to inform our community about the By-Laws, which require fishers to be 6 metres from a property boundary when fishing. The approach also includes an education campaign, continuing to monitor ongoing activity at Freshwater Lake and consistent connections with our community.
The current By-Law prohibits fishing within 6 metres of a property boundary. This By-Law remains in place.
Freshwater Lake was designed as a recreational space to be shared by all in our community.
