Henley Square is recognised as one of our Council’s major community precincts. Precinct upgrades and the installation of a water feature have contributed to promoting Henley Square as a recreational venue. While Henley Square also has facilities aimed at promoting a family friendly environment. The comfort and enjoyment of Henley Square has now been enhanced with the area being declared a smoke-free zone.
Strong support was received from our community when we consulted on declaring Henley Square smoke-free. An overwhelming 89% of respondents supported the precinct becoming smoke-free and 82% advised they would be more likely to visit Henley Square if it were smoke-free. As a result, State Government has now passed laws that prohibit smoking in Henley Square. Signs are placed at the boundary of the smoke-free area and a number of butt bins have been erected to allow for the responsible disposal of cigarette butts.
