How to Help My Child

How to Help My Child

Building stronger foundations for families and business growth

When Sue Sibly started How to Help My Child, her goal was simple: to support parents raising children with autism, and ADHD with practical strategies for everyday family life.

As a neurodivergent parenting coach and mother herself, Sue has built a business with purpose. But like many small business owners, she found herself juggling the day-to-day demands of running a business while trying to plan for future growth.

Through the City of Charles Sturt's Business Support Program, Sue accessed strategic business mentoring with Adam Peach from Trusted Advisor, giving her the opportunity to step back and work on her business rather than simply in it.

"The mentoring helped me step back, see my business more clearly and build a stronger foundation for growth."

Working alongside Adam, Sue developed a clearer business strategy, strengthened her internal systems and gained confidence in making intentional decisions about the future of her business.

The mentoring also supported Sue to refine her digital products, strengthen her blog and social media content, and lay the foundations for her future membership community, helping more families access practical support.

Rather than focusing solely on immediate outcomes, the mentoring has positioned the business for sustainable long-term growth.

"Before mentoring, I was caught in the day-to-day without a clear plan. I now have a clearer strategy, stronger structure and a more focused direction. I'm excited to show up more consistently and connect more intentionally with the families I support."

Sue says one of the biggest benefits wasn't just the practical advice, but the confidence she gained along the way.

The Business Support Program enabled her to access strategic mentoring that would otherwise have been difficult to prioritise while growing her business.

As a result, Sue has:

  • developed a clear strategic roadmap for the business
  • improved business systems and processes
  • strengthened her digital products, website and online presence
  • built new business management skills
  • increased confidence in decision making
  • established stronger foundations for future growth.

The mentoring also encouraged Sue to think differently about how she connects with the families she supports and the wider community.

"Receiving the funding has helped me become more intentional in how I connect with my audience and local community. I now have a clearer plan for building relationships, sharing helpful content and reaching more families who need support."

Looking back, Sue says participating in the Business Support Program has been invaluable.

"I'm so grateful for the Business Support Program and the support I've received from the City of Charles Sturt and Adam. The mentoring has helped me see my business more clearly and build a stronger foundation for growth. I now feel more confident and supported as I move forward."

For other local businesses considering applying, Sue's advice is simple: invest the time.

"The mentoring gave me clarity, confidence and direction. It's something I wish I'd started even earlier in my business journey."
