Aquatune Trade

Aquatune Trade distributes a growing range of wholesale pool and spa chemicals and equipment products to trade, operating from Kilkenny.

Josh shared with us some of business learnings and experience from participating in our Business Support Program.

Evolving  Business Journey

Established in 1984 in Adelaide, South Australia, Aquatune is dedicated to making domestic and commercial swimming pool and spa water safe for users and educating owners and operators in applying appropriate chemical and other sanitisers.

Aquatune has been advising on chemical application to State and Local Government for many years and supplies to an extensive range of swimming pool technicians and retail shops.

Aquatune had been operating out of a small retail store in Adelaide CBD and as their business grew, they required more space. Due to the increasing need for their services and equipment supply, the family made the decision to expand to two premises to include a trade only warehouse in Kilkenny, within the City of Charles Sturt.

The Aquatune range includes high quality pool and spa chemicals, Magnum Filter replacement cartridges, and LaMotte testing equipment. Along with a full range of all equipment from robotic cleaners to heat pumps for the domestic and commercial customer.

Adaptation

The pandemic had an initial impact with the temporary closing down of business and the change in which customers bought and shopped for products. Supply chain challenges and evermoving cost of goods have been major hurdles for their business in the past few years.

As a result of this change of focus to trade in their business model, Aquatune Trade sought support through the Business Support Program.

“We've had to adapt to the changing business environments and establish and grow new sales channels to remain competitive,” explains Josh.

Why Charles Sturt?

“We chose the City of Charles Sturt because of the location and proximity here in Kilkenny to the major access routes such as South Road/ Northern Expressway,” says Josh.

Aquatune Trade utilised the Business Support Grant to get assistance from our Business Advisor, Refuel Creative, reviewing their Google Ads campaigns and search-engine optimisation.

“I was first put on the program as a referral from Business SA. The timing was perfect and the scope of the grant worked well for our current business needs.”

“We found the business support program useful for what we needed at the time, as it has opened the need for us to continue to transform digitally across our business.”

Once their grant project was complete, our team went along to their official grand opening of their trade only warehouse and distribution centre.

“I found the program coordinator to be very engaging and it was great to have the representation from the council along to our well attended trade show. What a great initiative!"
