We’re proud to introduce the City of Charles Sturt Business Recognition Awards to recognise, encourage and showcase the many business leaders we have across our community.

This is a great opportunity to celebrate the achievements of local businesses who have navigated unprecedented challenges in recent years. Council acknowledges the energy and vibrancy our businesses bring to our community, and this is an important event to celebrate those achievements.

Award Categories

There are various award categories available highlighting the vibrant mix of businesses we have in our City:

• Business Legends – recognition of businesses who have been in the City for more than 25 years and their commitment to doing business within the City of Charles Sturt.
• Social Impact/Change Maker paying it forward - recognising a local business who generously gives back to the community, develops innovative solutions to addresses social issues and/or shares their profit with a charitable organisation.
• Sustainability Champion – businesses that prioritise the environment and take action on reducing their carbon footprint, improving substantiality and apply resources to climate change.
• International Business - outstanding performance in building trade between City of Charles Sturt and global export markets in service, manufacturing or value-add.
• Innovation - companies demonstrating product or process innovation and competitiveness in the national or global market, regardless of company size.
• Outstanding Entrepreneur – recognises an individual who has demonstrated their ability to follow through with an innovative idea and turn in into a commercially successful business.
• Home Grown – recognises the dedication and motivation in sustaining a home-based business
• Best Small Business (less than 20 employees) – creating opportunities for growth, stability, a positive working environment and outstanding client/customer relationships
• Best Developer/Considered Design – recognised commitment to creating a masterplan community, designed for the future.
• People’s Choice Award - nominated by customers who have experienced service excellence and have taken the time to show their appreciation, by submitting their thoughts in writing and nominating a person/business for this Award.

The Awards are in partnership with Western Business Leaders.

Nomination Process

Award nominations open 5 March 2024 and close 5 April 2024 (this has been extended). Business Legends are still open for nominations.

Voting Process (People's Choice Award only)

People's Choice Award voting for nominated businesses opens 15 April 2024 and close 6 May 2024.

Judging Process

Our Business Recognition Awards will be judged on merit by a panel comprised of nominated Staff and Business Mentors. This does not include the People’s Choice Award and Business Legends Awards. Our panel members will carefully analyse any information that is available both online and in the public domain and there will be strict guidelines provided to negate the possibility of influence or bias.
