Flushing of recycled water network
We are planning some flushing of the recycled water network in St Clair.
Regular flushing of water mains via the fire hydrants is standard practice in the water industry and can help improve water quality and increase the reliability of the water distribution system. Flushing improves water colour, verifies the hydrants are in working order and removes built up iron and naturally occurring sediment that can accumulate in the lines.
Between Thursday 28 November and Friday 6 December 2024, our contractors will be conducting a flushing program in some areas of St Clair. While the flushing is occurring, residents connected to our recycled water network may experience a drop in water pressure or discolouration in the water connected to their garden tap or toilets. This discolouration is normal and is due to naturally occurring minerals and sediments that break off and dissolve during the flushing.
Once the flushing has finished in your area, running a garden tap connected to the recycled water network will help improve the discolouration.
