Gleneagles Reserve in Seaton is being transformed through two key stages:
- Stormwater Management Upgrade (Completed)
- Reserve Upgrades for community access and recreation (Commencing October 2025)
Stage 1: Gleneagles Reserve Stormwater Management Upgrade
We’ve upgraded the stormwater system at Gleneagles Reserve to better manage heavy rain and flooding, while improving the reserve for future community use.
This project is jointly funded by the City of Charles Sturt, Stormwater Management Authority (Government of South Australia) and Disaster Ready Fund (Australian Government).
Why the upgrade is needed:
Heavy rainfall can overwhelm our stormwater system, flooding homes, streets, and parks. This upgrade will allow us to capture and manage more stormwater safely and efficiently, reducing flood risk now and into the future. By investing in this system now, we can prevent future damage, protect our community, and avoid costly repairs later.

Key project details:
- A larger and deeper stormwater detention basin
- A new pump station to return water to the drain within 24–48 hours after a storm
- Strong, rock-filled vertical gabion walls to hold more water
- A large stormwater pit and weir to divert high flows into the basin
- Realigned car park entrance at Ailsa Avenue and removal of a dirt mound to increase stormwater capacity
- Removal of the old basketball ring
- A greener, safer space: More than 200 new trees will be planted around the basin, resulting in a net gain of 35 trees. These plantings will make the area greener, cooler, and more pleasant for everyone to enjoy.
