We are aware of activity at Cheltenham Racecourse Reserve in St Clair relating to a group gathering at the site and the impact on community safety and amenities.
We are undertaking a collaborative response involving South Australia Police, the DHS Remote Visitors Outreach team and various internal Council teams to support the local community and ensure a consistent and considered presence at the site.
Proactive measures in place include:
- Increased presence from our Community Wellbeing, Community Safety and City Clean teams
- Daily proactive and reactive cleans and safety inspections
- Regular staff engagement with residents, vulnerable individuals and community members
- Collaboration with government agencies, community services and SAPOL with any illegal activity escalated directly
- A site activation plan to reinforce positive use of the space
- Proactive communications including updated on-site signage
- Ensuring appropriate support is available for people in need
You can assist by contacting us on (08) 8408 1111 (24/7) to report cleaning or hygiene issues.
