The St Clair Community Facility project has reached a significant milestone, with Planning Consent now granted for the development.
This approval marks an important step in progressing the project from concept planning into the next phase of delivery. Over the coming months, the detailed design will be developed further, building on the approved concept and preparing the project for construction.
At the same time, our team will continue progressing operational model options and will be in a position to begin discussions with user groups about how the facility will operate in the coming months.
We appreciate the valuable feedback provided to date and will continue to provide updates as the project progresses.

Council has now endorsed the St Clair Oval No. 2 fence design for inclusion in the St Clair Community Facility design, as part of the Council Meeting on Tuesday, 27 January 2026.
This project is a part of a multi-year project for St Clair. The Community Facility building works will be delivered in 2026/27, and the Football South Australia - Competition Compliant Oval 2 Main Pitch Boundary fencing (with budget proposed), will be delivered in 2027/28.
Thanks again to everyone who shared their feedback on the fencing proposal, with large retractable sections, on St Clair Oval 2.
You can read the outcome in the Council Meeting minutes.
21 January 2026
A report on the findings of the community consultation for the boundary fence proposal at St Clair Oval No. 2 will be presented at the Council meeting on Tuesday 27 January 2026 at 7pm.
The report provides an overview of the consultation results and a copy of the Community Engagement Summary Report.
If the fencing proposal is supported by Council, it is proposed that a budget bid relating to the fencing be prepared for consideration as part of the 2027/28 Annual Business Plan and budget process. This bid would cover perimeter, backstop, and pitch fencing to meet Football South Australia venue standards, incorporating large operable openings to maintain access when an enclosed venue is not required.
The Council Meeting agenda will be published on the afternoon of Thursday 22 January 2026 on our website under Agendas and Minutes.
21 November 2025
We are proposing to install mesh sports fencing to sections of the main pitch, only, on St Clair Oval 2. The purpose of the proposed fencing is to enable competitive football (soccer), while supporting the ongoing shared use of, and access to the pitch by Woodville High School, Adelaide Vipers Football Club, and the broader community.
This proposal includes:
- A 1.8m high perimeter fence with several built-in sliding panels that (when retracted) will create large openings for community access to the main pitch when it's not in use for structured sport or match games.
- A 1m pitch fence with access gates, to protect spectators on the facility side from the field of play.
- Back stops up to 3.6m incorporated into the perimeter fence at each end of the pitch, as required.
- Pedestrian gates to access the grounds during structured sport, or official match days (if spectating).
The fence design has been carefully considered to meet the needs of all users and maintain accessible open space in St Clair, while complementing planned future upgrades to Oval 2 and the wider precinct. See the full designs.
Consultation closes 5pm, Sunday 15 December 2025.
What is happening with the St Clair Precinct and Community Facility?
