YMCA Collaboration to Continue at St Clair Recreation Centre

12 November 2024

We’re proud to extend our partnership with community not-for-profit organisation YMCA South Australia who will continue the management of the St Clair Recreation Centre for a further 10 years.

The redeveloped St Clair Recreation Centre was opened in 2018 and has become an important space to the wider community, welcoming approximately 500,000 visitors annually.

The site has a rich history in our City after it was originally opened in 1962 as the State’s first major youth centre and indoor sports stadium.

“The St Clair Recreation Centre holds a special place in our community and we are thrilled to continue our long-term relationship with YMCA South Australia,” City of Charles Sturt CEO Paul Sutton shared.

“This partnership reflects our values as a Council to align with a local South Australian not-for-profit organisation that has the best interests of the community and our sporting clubs at heart.”

YMCA South Australia support a wide range sports teams in the community at the six-court stadium - the largest of its kind in South Australia.

"Together with the City of Charles Sturt, we’ve had six years of success at St Clair and are excited at the opportunities for continued growth and innovation over the next 10 years. We have several exciting initiatives planned to improve customer experience and reduce environmental impact," said Andrew Mundy, Acting CEO of YMCA South Australia.

The partnership with YMCA South Australia ensures all proceeds are reinvested into improving the health and wellness of local communities in South Australia.
