We are committed to enhancing the safety of our city's neighbourhoods. Several areas have already experienced reduced speed limits, and now we are extending this initiative to Albert Park, Hendon, and Royal Park. The speed limits in these areas will be reduced from 50 km/h to 40 km/h starting the week commencing 5 August. This change, approved by the Department of Infrastructure and Transport (DIT), follows the successful implementation of the 40 km/h speed limit in Cheltenham.
This adjustment is part of our commitment to community safety, aiming to ensure the safety of all road users. In February 2023, we conducted a comprehensive community consultation, and the feedback supported the speed limit reduction. Our goal is to create safer neighbourhoods, and the new speed limits are a critical step toward achieving this.
