12 June 2024
On Tuesday, Council voted 6-5 to grant the South Australian National Football League (SANFL) a non-exclusive licence to Football Park, West Lakes.
This means:
- A non‐exclusive licence has been granted to the SANFL for 10+10+10+10+2 years
- The proposed Community Land Management Plan has been adopted
- Council notes that any request to a change to the hours of use as contained within the licence under its term, shall be subject to a further decision of Council and not via delegates
This decision follows extensive consultation with our community. The first round was held in November 2023. Following a review of the outcomes, feedback, and other workshops, Council resolved to undertake a second round of community consultation in May 2024, on a revised proposal, which included changes to times of usage.
Next steps:
- City of Charles Sturt will work with all parties to immediately commence to vest the oval to Council,
- The non-exclusive license is granted to the SANFL
- Following the handover of Central Park (WEST Development), a Community Engagement Approach will be prepared for design and community feedback
