Christmas Events
Christmas is always a special time in our City and there's a variety of events and activities across City to keep everyone entertained.
Community events submitted via our Submit an Event form with a Christmas theme will be listed via the link below for families to celebrate the festive season.
You can also explore our Eventbrite Collection for more details and to register.
Christmas Bows on Trees
Many residents like to place bows on street trees during the Christmas season.
We think the bows are a great addition to add to the Christmas spirit in our community but we do ask that no physical damage occurs to the tree and they are removed before Friday 23 January 2026.
Riverbank Christmas Light Display
The Riverbank Christmas Lights Display is an iconic South Australian tradition bordering our City and the City of West Torrens along the River Torrens at Adam Street Reserve (corner of Port Road & Adam Street, Hindmarsh).
End of Year Opening Hours
Our Council locations will operate under modified opening hours over the holiday season, including our Civic Centre, libraries, community centres, Immunisation Clinic and the Beverley Waste and Recycling Centre.
PLEASE NOTE: There will be no kerbside waste or recycling collections on Christmas Day or New Year's Day. All collections over the two weeks will take place the next day (a day later than your usual collection day). This includes Friday collections which will be collected on Saturday.
