The 16 Days of Activism against Gender-based Violence runs from 25 November to 10 December annually.
The international campaign was started by the Women’s Global Leadership Institute in 1991 and it begins each year on the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women and runs until Human Rights Day. This year's theme is 'Invest to prevent violence against women and girls'.
This year, we have a number of initiatives running across our City and beyond:
- Saturday 25 November, The Rotary Walk for Respect
- Monday 27 November - Join us for a free community information forum. Unpacking Coercive Control.
- The Clotheslines Project: T-shirts, featuring messages of support and slogans against violence will be on display along Port Road and the Civic Centre, Woodville. This year we have partnered with Adelaide Secondary School of English, Woodville High, Findon High, Pennington Primary and Women's Safety Services.
The aim is to call for the prevention and elimination of violence against women and girls.
Let’s keep everyone safe, and speak out together against domestic and family violence, and together, let’s make the invisible, visible.
The City of Charles Sturt is an active member of the Western Collaboration Against Family and Domestic Abuse WCAFDA, and works with its dedicated members in the primary prevention space.
