Partnering to Recycle Concrete

29 August 2023

We have partnered with the City of Port Adelaide Enfield to create new ways to innovate and recycle construction materials.

Currently, we collectively dispose of around 11,500 tonnes of concrete each year. We are looking into how we can reduce this and improve environmental outcomes. Through this new partnership we are aiming to recycle as much of this material as possible ourselves into reusable product that can go back into roads and footpaths.

In preparation, recently we have stored old road and pavement base. Yesterday we undertook the first crush of this material at our Gillman facility, ready to be reused in our roads and footpaths. We will be trialling this recycled material on new roads in the coming years.

This initiative will ensure we are responsible in the sustainable reuse and repurpose of our resources, as well as delivering value for our communities by partnering to find opportunities to create a circular recycling economy locally.
