We are working towards creating safer neighbourhoods in our City.
We have been reducing the speed limit on many of our local streets with 18 of our suburbs moving from the default 50km/h to 40km/h areas since 2012.
We’re now proposing implementing a new 40km/h Area Speed Limit in parts of Albert Park, Royal Park, Hendon, Cheltenham, Semaphore Park, West Lakes Shore, Henley Beach and Fulham Gardens.
Reducing the speed limit on our local roads aims to improve local amenity and road safety as well as reduce the need for expensive traffic control devices such as speed humps.
