Hawker Street between Blight Street and Chief Street is planned to be reconstructed in the 2024/2025 financial year.
As part of this project, we are taking the opportunity to improve pedestrian connectivity between Brompton Green and Josiah Mitton Reserve, and at West Street, with wombat crossings.
In late 2020, Hawker Street (between South Road and Blight Street) was reconstructed to improve traffic safety, stormwater drainage and landscaping for the street. With the design successfully implementing a traffic calming effect, the intention is to now continue this treatment along Hawker Street to Chief Street.
