Grants to Support Community Recycling

31 March 2023

We have another round of grant funding available to support community groups to divert waste from landfill and implement ways to improve recycling.

Non-for-profit community groups and sporting clubs within the City of Charles Sturt may be eligible for a grant of up to $1,000 to help implement projects to:

  • set up waste and recycling infrastructure and initiatives,
  • avoid waste generation,
  • recover and reuse materials,
  • reduce organic material going to landfill or
  • educating and engaging club and community group members and staff in waste sorting practices.

The grant can fund a range of things from upgrading internal waste and recycling infrastructure (i.e. bins) to improve recycling performance, reusable cutlery, bowls, and plates to replace single use items, the purchase of compostable bin liners (must be certified to Australian Standard AS 4736), education material, signage and more.

Some of the grants already funded have gone towards the purchase of:

  • Educational signs for a three bin system
  • Compostable bags
  • Bin systems to support waste and recycling separation
  • Reusable cutlery to replace single use cutlery

Applications close 5pm, 28 April 2023.
