Ministerial approval to operate the e-scooter trial along the coast from West Beach to Semaphore Park will expire effective 31 October 2023. As a result, we have decided to conclude the trial at this time. Our permit issued to our e-scooter provider will conclude on this date and there will no longer be operation of e-scooters along our coast.
The trial commenced in 2020, providing many tourists and locals the opportunity to pick up an e-scooter at various locations along the coast from West Beach to Semaphore Park.
While we are interested in having e-scooters in our Council area in the future, we are awaiting the outcome of a consultation on Personal Mobility Devices conducted by the Department for Transport and Infrastructure earlier this year. Once we understand what the future direction for e-scooters is at a state level, we will be able to make an informed decision on the future of e-scooters in our City.
