For some of us, a visit to the beach can be a challenge because of accessibility or mobility barriers we face daily.
This summer the beach mat will again be rolled out, with accessible beach wheelchairs and mobility walkers available for free hire daily at Henley Beach.
Timed to align with the opening of the surf patrol season, the beach mat provides additional access to our beach and is ideal for wheelchairs, prams and those living with disability. It will be in use seven days a week, subject to tide times, weather conditions and resources until the end of daylight saving.
There are two types of beach wheelchairs and mobility walkers available. Once you have made your booking, they can be collected from a locker located behind Henley Surf Life Saving Club, 246 Esplanade, Henley Beach (morning and afternoon bookings are available).
Please note you will need a MLAK key to access the storage area at the Surf Life Saving Club - If you don't have your own key, you can borrow a MLAK key from Ngutungka West Lakes, Findon Library and Civic Library.
We have two types of beach wheelchairs and two types of beach walkers for hire with different features.
- DaVinci Mobile Beachster (x1)
- Mobi-Chair (x2)
- Push Beach Walker (x1)
- Wheeleez All-Terrain Rollator (x1)
