At our Council meeting on 12 December 2022, the Freshwater Lake future lake management options were considered, with Option 2A: Off-line Treatment (eg integration to the Waterproofing the West and existing wetland systems) endorsed. This decision follows extensive consultation with the community.
It was also resolved that funds would be made available to commence initial design this year, with support for the future allocation of funds in the 2023/24 financial year to undertake detailed design and necessary investigations required to implement the Off-line Treatment solution.
Thank you to everyone who was involved in the Freshwater Lake review consultation process. It was warming to hear how much the lake is valued by the community and to understand your relationships and histories with the Lake.
We will continue to maintain the lake while the permanent structural and management improvements to enhance maintenance and operations of the water body are implemented. We will share any future updates via our website.
