Pulse Coffee

Pulse Coffee knows what your heart needs – coffee!

Ben Pulse Coffee

Ben Betelli and his business partner, Anthony Pollina, opened Pulse Coffee together, in the quaint set of shops on the corner of Woodville Road and Port Road. Together they bring lots of café and hospitality experience, with four other coffee shops between them.

“Finding a western location was Anthony’s idea – he’s always looking for a new project. He’s a local and this location just came up. We’ve found it hard operating in the city since COVID. This location was a plan to support the city location until it picked up, which it has now.”

Ben says their Woodville location is going well in its first year of business.

“I would say 70-80% of our clientele comes from the Queen Elizabeth Hospital and other medical staff. We really wanted to leverage the hospital foot traffic and being located where we are has more flexibility. We are looking forward to the construction being completed in the next two years.”

Leveraging Technology

Pulse Coffee has been growing using UberEATS.

“UberEATS has been pretty big here. I think it's possibly because there's nothing else in our area that's selling what we're selling. The feedback we get on the coffee is that people say we have the best coffee in the area. We have a great rating!”

“Since we had our original UberEATS photoshoot, about half of the products were missing photos. Once we got our new photoshoot, using the Business Support grant, we started making more sales - that was definitely the most beneficial thing for us.”

Pulse Coffee also has online ordering through an online link, using the same photos taken for UberEATS.

“We would like to get this on our website in the future and grow this. UberEATS helps us in terms of advertising and delivery, which our app can’t do just yet. We would love to transition away from this and encourage customers to use our app instead.”

“We love doing business in the west – it is great making connections with people and having a strong and loyal customer base. I am enjoying getting to know the locals in this area - having a chat about what they're doing in their life and how their son's cricket went on the weekend. This builds that relationship with customers, which is what brings them back and what makes us successful.”

Pulse Coffee is looking to expand their trading hours to weekends and trialing a menu expansion.

You can visit Pulse Coffee at 4/39 Woodville Rd, Woodville South SA 5011.

Ben and Anthony of Pulse Coffee has recently accessed our Business Support Program, to investigate marketing outcomes to grow their customer base.
