Dog Friendly Businesses

Dog Friendly Businesses

27 March 2017

With one of the highest levels of pet ownership in the world, dogs are becoming an integral part of our everyday lives in Australia.

In the City of Charles Sturt, we recognise our furry companions and the many benefits they bring to many peoples’ lives.  From additional companionship to various health benefits, dogs are important members of our community.

We recognise that there are many retail businesses in Charles Sturt who allow well behaved dogs on leads to enter their premises while mum and dad go about their business, browsing or shopping.

As such, Charles Sturt has implemented a new Dog Friendly Businesses program where businesses can request a sticker which will be posted to them to include in their window display.

The sticker will inform people that their dog is welcome into the shop with them encouraging dog inclusion within our City.

Additionally this program aims to discourage instances of dogs being left tied up in front of shops which can cause unnecessary stress for the dog and owner.

The local dog-friendly businesses will also be promoted on the Charles Sturt website and other media.

Interested businesses can contact Charles Sturt on 8408 1111 or visit www.charlessturt.sa.gov.au/dogfriendly
