Project Completed

Stage 1 of the Living Streets - Renown Park project was completed in December 2025, with all works now finalised on Wright Street and Bishop Street.

The 'Living Streets' initiative is about more than just upgrading roads. It's about rethinking our community spaces to enhance connectivity and safety. This initiative is also underway for Albert Park.

Renown Park reconstruction

In Renown Park, we’re delivering major upgrades to Wright Street and Bishop Street, with Tait Street and Blight Street also included in the broader project area.

Works include:

Reconstructing road pavement
New concrete kerbs and gutters
Asphalt resurfacing
Landscaping and urban greening
Traffic calming and pedestrian safety upgrades

These efforts aim to create a safer, slower vehicle speed environment, enhance urban greening, and improve the stormwater and urban design for all road users.

Project Background

In late 2019, we began the first round of community engagement with residents of Wright, Tait, Bishop, and Blight Street. Residents shared how they use their streets and what changes would make them feel safer and more connected. That feedback directly shaped the concept plans, which prioritise people over vehicles, encourage social interaction, and enhance green space.The initial concept plans can be viewed here.

Since then, the project has progressed into construction. We’ve appointed Camco SA Pty Ltd to deliver the works in stages, starting with Wright Street, followed by Bishop Street. These streets are being delivered in multiple construction zones to reduce disruption and allow for detailed upgrades. Tait Street and Blight Street remain part of the overall Living Streets vision for Renown Park, and will be delivered following the completion of works on Wright and Bishop Streets.

This project is funded by Green Adelaide and City of Charles Sturt.

Project Timeline & Construction Updates

Below is a summary of key works and milestones for the Renown Park Living Streets project. Dates are weather-dependent and may be subject to change.

Date	Update
May 2024	Construction commenced on Wright Street. Camco SA appointed to deliver Bishop Street works; affected residents notified. Kerb installation began between Lamont Street and Bishop Street. Narrowing of Wright Street impacted on-street parking (until end of August, weather permitting). Temporary traffic management and partial road closures began across Wright and Bishop Street.
October 2024	Pavement works on Bishop Street and construction of the Bishop/Wright Street roundabout took place (17–28 October). Asphalt laid on the roundabout. Temporary road closures were in place between Wright Street and Harrison Road, roundabout closed during and after hours for safety. Temporary parking provided on Harrison Road and Wright Street. Landscaping commenced on Wright Street on 24 October.
January 2025	Construction commenced on Bishop Street (between South Road and Wright Street). Temporary traffic management implemented.
March 2025	Ongoing kerbing, road reconstruction, and landscaping on Wright Street (between Bishop Street and Torrens Road).
May - August 2025	Wright Street (between Bishop St and Torrens Rd) Kerbing and pavement works completed. Final asphalt layer laid on Wright Street. Landscaping, including tree and shrub planting, carried out with minimal disruption. Artwork installation occurred. Bishop Street (South Road to Wright Street) Works commenced on Bishop Street. Stormwater upgrades completed by mid-June, followed by kerbing, pavement works and landscaping.
September - October 2025	Completion of construction for Wright and Bishop Street. Planting and irrigation to continue, completion early November. Design artwork to be installed.
December 2025	Full project completion for Wright Street and Bishop Street (pending minor artwork).
Future Works	Tait and Blight construction.
