Construction Update: Terminus Street and Charles Sturt Avenue

5 April 2024

Construction is about to begin on the long-awaited intersection upgrade at Charles Sturt Avenue and Terminus Street, a crucial part of the Grange Greenway project.

Here's what you need to know:

Background: The Grange Greenway is a strategic cycling corridor through the City of Charles Sturt to connect the inner West of Adelaide to the Coast. Over the last 2-3 years we have been making improvements along the corridor. In May 2023, we shared plans for the upgrade of the Charles Sturt Ave and Terminus Street intersection, we're excited to share that funding for this project has been approved in the 2023/24 Council budget, and construction will kick off April 15.

What to Expect:

  • Installation of a new raised intersection at Charles Sturt Avenue / Terminus Street
  • Fresh line markings on all approaches
  • Addition of new public lighting along Terminus Street
  • Road Closure: During construction, there will be a full road closure at the railway line. Please follow the traffic signs on-site for alternative routes.

Garbage Collection: Weekly waste and recycling collection for affected residents will continue without interruption. If you encounter any issues with bin collection, please reach out to our contractor Cleanaway.

Project Timeline: Construction is estimated to take place from April 15 to May 30, with work hours from 7 am to 5 pm on weekdays and some Saturdays. However, please note that these dates are subject to change.

Impacts:

  • Road Closure: Full closure at the Corner of Charles Sturt Ave and Terminus St with detours in place.
  • Parking Arrangements: Grange station carpark will remain open and accessible only from Military Rd.
  • Construction Noise: Expected during work hours.
  • Truck or Heavy Vehicle Activity: Also during work hours.
  • Footpaths: Pedestrian access will be maintained as much as possible, with minor closures for short periods.

For any questions or concerns about the project, please don't hesitate to contact Sal Lucivero, Project Engineer, at 8408 1872.

We appreciate your patience and cooperation as we work to enhance the Grange area for everyone.
