If safe to do so try to secure it.

Contact 8408 1111 and a Community Safety Officer will be sent to collect the dog from you and return it home as soon as possible.

The Dog’s owners, who may have already notified us that the dog is missing, are waiting to hear from us.

Please remember we try to return all dogs home as soon as possible to avoid any unnecessary stress for the dog or its family. 

We discourage holding the animal yourself.

Lost or Found Animal form

We recommend you should also contact:

  • The Animal Welfare League on 8348 1300, check their website as they post photos of all impounded dogs.
  • Local veterinary clinics
  • You may also consider placing notices on public notice boards, or doing a letter box drop in your local area (please do not place signs on stobie poles)

To make sure that you are reunited with your dog as soon as possible, please ensure that your dog always wears it's collar and registration tag, and is microchipped with your current details recorded on the database.

Impounded Dogs

Notice is hereby given in accordance with Section 43(1)1 of the Dog and Cat Management Act 1995, that the dogs described hereunder have been found wandering at large within the Municipality of the City of Charles Sturt, and have been impounded in the

They may be inspected between the hours of 10.00 am and 4.00 pm any day except public holidays.

Fees will apply and are payable at Civic Centre prior to collecting the dog. These fees are charged to the City of Charles Sturt by the Animal Welfare League for the housing, caring and feeding of the dog. All fees relating to the impounding of the dog are charged to the dog owner or person collecting the dog which must be paid in full before the dog can be released.

Found a cat?

Phone 8408 1111, and we will advise if the cat has been reported missing or complete a
Lost or Found Animal form

If the cat is identified, please contact the owner.

Our Animal Management Officers do not provide a collection service for cats.  

Unidentified cats may be delivered to the Animal Welfare League.
