Arts Fund

Funding has been exhausted for the Arts Fund grant stream for this financial year.

Please enquire in the new financial year.

Purpose

Support local Artists and Arts organisations to develop new one off or time limited creative projects that encourage public engagement in the Arts.

Please note: Arts Fund projects must be completed within the same financial year the application is submitted.

We encourage applicants to apply for funding a minimum of one (1) month prior to the project commencement date.

Applications are invited from artists and arts organisations to support the development and delivery of NEW creative initiatives within the City of Charles Sturt

Artforms include:

  • Public art (ephemeral, temporary or semi-permanent)
  • Visual arts (ceramics, drawing, filmmaking, painting, photography & sculpting)
  • Performing arts (dance and theatre)*
  • Moving image
  • Literary arts (creative writing, poetry & prose)
  • Interdisciplinary arts

*Live music performances are eligible under the ‘Live and Local’ grant only.

To be considered for funding you must answer yes to all the following:

  • I have a current ABN.
  • My project will be located within the City of Charles Sturt.
  • I am requesting funding for a new creative project that will be delivered before 30 June 2024.
  • My project is accessible to the public.
  • I am not (or immediate relative of) a City of Charles Sturt staff member or Elected Member.
  • I have no outstanding funding acquittals or debts to the City of Charles Sturt (excluding hardship provision for late payment of rates).

Applicants will only be funded for a maximum of two consecutive years. Applicants who have not received funding in the previous financial year will be given a higher priority.

We encourage applications from Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Artists and from artists with Disability.

  • Arts outcomes that take place outside the City of Charles Sturt's boundaries.
  • Business as usual activities, ongoing projects, and core business (new trial or temporary projects, different to core business will be considered)
  • Retrospective funding for completed projects or projects that commenced prior to funding application being submitted.

Arts Fund project that contributes to one or more of the following outcomes:

  • Enhance our public spaces.
  • Support and trial, new and temporary art projects that are different to core business.
  • Opportunities for our community to experience diverse artforms and engage in hands on arts and cultural experiences or workshops with professional artists.
  • Improve accessibility to the Arts.

Up to $5,000 (plus GST).

Funding is limited to one grant per applicant per financial year.

Funding should be reflective of costs & what you want to achieve, as per your budget.

  • Artist fees related to the funded project
  • Materials required to deliver the funded project
  • Marketing and promotion of the funded project

Expressions of interest for this program will be open on an ongoing basis until 1 June 2024 or until funding is exhausted.

Project activity can occur between July 2023 and 30 June 2024.

To ensure your application is assessed prior to your project commencing, we encourage applicants to apply for funding a minimum of one (1) month prior to the project commencement date.

Payment under this program will be made directly to the applicant after receipt of a signed funding agreement and tax invoice.

The applicant agrees to acquit the funds within one month of completing the project, as per the funding agreement.

An internal committee will assess your application against the following selection criteria:

  • Answered yes to all program eligibility (outlined under ‘am I eligible for funding’)
  • Alignment of your creative project to the ‘expected program outcomes’ and projects that support City of Charles Sturt's vision for a ‘Leading and Liveable City.’
  • Budget items are eligible for funding under this program (outlined under ‘what can the funding be used for.’)
  • Project viability (is it achievable within the timeframe and budget).

Applicants will be notified of the outcome of their application approximately 3 weeks from receipt of the online application form.
