Personal Training Fitness Activities

Outdoor personal training and group fitness activities are very popular. It's a great way for our reserves and foreshore to be used to provide health benefits for our community.

Where these activities are run for a commercial gain, permission is required before starting the activity.

These activities can include:

  • gym sessions (with or without weights, fit balls, skipping ropes etc)
  • boxing or pad training
  • organised aerobic activity
  • circuit training
  • walking & running
  • a combination of any of the above

Permission is granted under the Local Government Act 1999 and applications are assessed in line with Council’s Use of Public Reserves for Commercial Fitness Activities Policy.

There is a non-refundable Application Fee of $55 which must be paid upon submission of your application.

On approval, the following fees will apply:

Permit Fee for Category 1 (1-4 participants)

$110 per annum

Permit Fee for Category 2 (5-10 participants)

$275 per annum

Permit Fee for Category 3 (11+ participants)

$550 per annum

Permit Fee for One Off Casual Sessions will be charged

25% of the Permit Fee

You will need to supply the following information with your application:

  • Certificate of Currency showing a minimum ten million dollars ($10,000,000) Public Liability Insurance. 
    Note: Tax invoices are not considered sufficient evidence of a Public Liability Insurance Policy.
  • Registration with Fitness Australia or the relevant peak body.
  • Current Senior First Aid Certificate.

Applications will be considered within 20 business days from the date that all required information has been lodged with the Council.

We'll let you know by email when we've received your application.

The assessment process will commence within five business days and will include:

  • confirmation of your details and required documentation supporting your application
  • investigation of your proposed activity
  • application is placed on the next agenda for Council’s Staff Advisory Group for consideration and decision (the Group meet fortnightly on Tuesdays)

On approval, you will be provided with a permit confirming the approved activity and the conditions. A Tax Invoice will also be provided for the permit fees and payment must be made within the terms outlined within the Tax Invoice.

You can make payment online or refer to the Tax Invoice for other methods.
