Neighbourhood Projects

Funding has been exhausted for the Neighbourhood Projects grant stream for this financial year.

Please enquire in the new financial year.

Purpose

Support City of Charles Sturt residents to lead and collaborate to create and deliver small scale projects to improve and connect their street, public spaces and neighboourhood.

Please note: Neighbourhood Projects must be completed within the same financial year the application is submitted.

We encourage applicants to apply for funding a minimum of one (1) month prior to the project commencement date.

Applications are invited from City of Charles Sturt residents to assist with material costs to deliver community led small scale projects/activities that improve and connect their street, public spaces and neighboourhood.

To be considered for funding you must answer yes to all the following:

  • My neighbourhood project will be located within the City of Charles Sturt.
  • I am requesting funding for a new project that will be delivered before 30 June 2024.
  • I am not (or immediate relative of) a City of Charles Sturt staff member or Elected Member.
  • I have no outstanding funding acquittals or debts to the City of Charles Sturt (excluding hardship provision for late payment of rates).

Applicants will only be funded for a maximum of two consecutive years. Applicants who have not received funding in the previous financial year will be given a higher priority.

Projects/activities and initiatives that:

  • Are collaborative (involving multiple residents)
  • Improve and activate our streets, public places and neighbourhoods
  • Build skills and experiences of our community
  • Are maintained by the local community
  • Connect our community

Up to $2,000 (Excl GST).

Funding is limited to one grant per applicant per financial year.

Materials required to deliver the funded project/activity.

  • Projects/activities that take place outside the City of Charles Sturt's boundaries.
  • Retrospective funding for completed projects or projects/activities that have commenced prior to funding application being submitted.

Expressions of interest for this program will be open on an ongoing basis until 1 June 2024 or until funding is exhausted.

Project activity can occur between July 2023 and 30 June 2024.

To ensure your application is assessed prior to your project commencing, we encourage applicants to apply for funding a minimum of one (1) month prior to the project commencement date.

Payment under this program will be made directly to the applicant within 30 days of receipt of a signed funding agreement and tax invoice.

The applicant agrees to acquit the funds within one month of completing the project, as per the funding agreement.

An internal committee will assess your application against the following selection criteria:

  • Answered yes to all program eligibility (outlined under ‘am I eligible for funding’)
  • Alignment of your neighbourhood project/activity to the ‘expected program outcomes’ and projects that support City of Charles Sturt's vision for a ‘Leading and Liveable City.’
  • Budget items are eligible for funding under this program (outlined under ‘what can the funding be used for.’)
  • Project viability (is it achievable within the timeframe and budget).

Applicants will be notified of the outcome of their application approximately 3 weeks from receipt of the online application form.
