We are excited to share that our Economic Stimulus Package (ESP), rolled out over the past six months, has been announced as the winner in the Innovation category at the 2020 Mainstreet SA Awards.
This Award recognised the new and creative response we provided with the judges impressed with the scale of this project, implemented in a short time frame, meeting immediate community needs.
The judges also shared “This well balanced program involved excellent engagement with businesses, the community and creatives and forged stronger relationships and networks within the council area.”
The ESP was launched in May 2020 and was created to help bring energy and support to the recovery of the most impacted sectors of our business and arts community during the COVID-19 pandemic. The package included:
- Shop Local – The ‘we are back in business' initiative brought life back to our main streets by helping businesses reconnect with their customers
- Live & Local - Supported local venues and musicians
- Creative Cities – Supported local artists and arts organisations
- Recovering Clubs - Provided assistance to not-for-profit clubs
Mayor Angela Evans said “COVID-19 greatly impacted many parts of our community and we were pleased to be able to deliver the ESP to support, assist and help local businesses, groups, organisations and individuals to rebuild and recover.”
