Sports Awards Terms and Conditions

General Terms & Conditions:

  • All applications must be submitted via the online nomination form on the City of Charles Sturt website.
  • Individuals can self-nominate, and people can also be nominated for multiple award categories (where eligible). However, a separate online nomination form must be submitted for each award under consideration.
  • Where a person, club, program, event or design is nominated (multiple times) for the same award, we will accept the best nomination submitted for that category, for assessment by the judging panel. EG: Nominations are assessed on their merits for quality, not quantity.
  • Nominees must be a volunteer of a club/association located in the City of Charles Sturt. They may receive an honorarium and/or out-of-pocket expenses for the work they do; but they cannot be a part-time or full-time paid employee.
  • All nominations must be received by 5pm Thursday, 18 April 2024 and meet the specific Award criteria detailed on the awards webpage. Any nominations received after this time will not be considered eligible.
  • As part of the online nomination process, you will be asked to upload a relevant photo/image of the nominee (i.e. individual, club, activity/program or event) for awards promotional purposes.

Specific award category eligibility:

  • Nominees for Club/Association of the Year awards are only eligible if they are predominately based and run in the City of Charles Sturt.
  • Nominees for Coach or Official and Administrator of the Year awards are only eligible if they contribute to sporting clubs, events and/or programs that are predominately based in the City of Charles Sturt.
  • Nominees for the Active Inclusion Champion Award are only eligible for individuals, groups, programs, events or inclusive designs that are predominately based in the City of Charles Sturt.
  • An overall City of Charles Sturt ‘Sports Volunteer of the Year’ will also be chosen and acknowledged from one of the winners of the four Award Categories; Coach or Official of the Year, Administrator of the Year, Club/Association of the Year and and Active Inclusion Champion.
  • As well as achieving outstanding on-field success in each category, award nominees must also be able to demonstrate outstanding success off-the-field. This includes a demonstrable positive, respectful and community minded approach in all dealings with other sporting clubs, Council staff and the general community.
