Sand Trials at West Beach

8 December 2020

The State Government Department for Environment and Water is working to deliver various land-based sands to West Beach this week as part of the Securing the future of our coastline project.

Small amounts of sand sample will be placed in front of the West Beach Parks dunes north of Hamra Avenue.

The sand has been sourced from various licensed quarries in South Australia and naturally occurring sand deposits, adhering to strict departmental guidelines.

The trial is part of ongoing investigations to determine suitable sources of external sand to help replenish and secure the West Beach shoreline.

Sand will be delivered to the beach each weekday between 7am-5pm to be completed by Friday 11 December 2020.

You can learn more about the project via the State Government website.
