Refuel Creative shares their expertise and advice for businesses who want to maximise their digital marketing efforts.

How long have you been in the digital space and what made you interested in this area?

Refuel Creative has been here since 2017, but our Refuel team has decades of experience across the digital marketing landscape. We love using new technology to get results for clients, whether they be small businesses, not for profits, startups, government or large companies.

There are a lot of different types of digital agencies - specialising in a variety of things. Where do you see your agency sitting in this ecosystem, and what are your areas of speciality?

In this ecosystem, Refuel sits at the centre, coordinating an integrated approach between all aspects of digital marketing. We work with organisations on tailoring their marketing strategies, and start with the foundations, then work across all marketing activities.

From a team expertise perspective, we’re very fortunate that our Pit Crew is made up of specialists in SEO, SEM, social media, marketing automation, CRM, video and website development.

We are a certified HubSpot Agency Partner that assists businesses in configuring their HubSpot CRM to aid in all marketing activities, including customising communications for various customer groups.

We offer custom website design and development services using the latest technologies and frameworks, with a focus on creating websites that are fast, secure, user-friendly, and mobile-responsive, and that help businesses achieve their online goals. We work on HubSpot CMS, WordPress, Shopify and BigCommerce.

We’re SEO professionals who use the latest techniques and strategies to improve a business's online visibility and ranking in search engine results pages, with the aim of increasing organic traffic and generating leads.

We help businesses create and publish their organic social media content and manage their social media presence to increase brand awareness and engage with audiences on platforms like Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, and TikTok.

We create and implement effective digital advertising campaigns for businesses across Google Search Ads (PPC), Meta (Facebook and Instagram), LinkedIn, TikTok, YouTube and display networks.

What are the main issues you see coming up time and time again for your business clients in the digital space?

Most clients understand the importance of digital marketing and emerging technology to take their business into a higher gear, but they lack the specific know-how to get there. We give them the strategy, tools, and creative they need to get their business on track for success.

We also find that business owners don’t always have the time to invest in learning the digital space, and so are reliant on service providers like us.

Tech stacks so often aren’t set up correctly, and without the basics in place you can’t get the rest right. Many of our clients when they first come to us haven’t set up Google Analytics 4 correctly, so they want more clients but don’t know how much website traffic they get. Or they don’t have their Facebook Pixel setup with their social media accounts centralised within Meta Business Manager, for example. So they want a set Cost Per Lead, but they don’t have an accurate cost to work from to start with.

One important factor in business is knowing who is a good fit for your business - those people who you work best with and who you can help the most. Who do you feel your agency is able to work best with and help the most?

People with a growth mindset, business owners who want to grow and are prepared to invest in their growth.

What do you see as the biggest upcoming opportunities in the digital space?

Artificial Intelligence has been an upcoming opportunity in the digital space for the last few years, and with the ChatGPT explosion recently it’s now taken centre stage. Using AI to analyse your data, channel your target prospect, and work smarter is vital to succeed.

We also see video marketing as a huge opportunity for businesses, this is why we have our own in-house video team at Refuel. More consumers than ever are watching video online and this is how they prefer to learn about products and services. Platforms like TikTok have exploded with short video, particularly for younger audiences, and it’s never been easier to build this content.

If there was one key message you wanted to give business owners, what would that be?

Marketing is important, and shouldn’t be an afterthought or undervalued.

We’re focused on being proactive, not reactive. To really get ahead, you need to keep one eye on the horizon and adapt to changes early. This is how we keep our clients ahead of their competition and in pole position.

Be prepared to invest in your marketing, as an early investment with experienced professionals can save you in the long run.
