White Ribbon Day on Friday 20 November is an opportunity to raise awareness and commit to action in preventing men’s violence against women and domestic or family violence.
We always strive to create a safe and fulfilling environment for everyone in our community. We encourage our residents to stand up, speak out and act to end gendered violence.
The theme for this year’s White Ribbon Day campaign is ‘Community by Community, Workplace by Workplace’ highlighting how we can find strength together to bring about real social change.
Executive Director of White Ribbon Australia Brad Chilcott said it was time for communities to make a united stance against domestic violence.
“This year for White Ribbon Day we’re encouraging workplaces and communities to make a decision to do more than just be aware of domestic violence, but to act,” he said.
“It’s not enough to know it’s happening. It’s not enough to think it’s bad. It’s not enough to hope someone else does something about it.
“It’s time for each and every one of us to stand up, to speak out and take action.”
You can help make a difference in the elimination of violence against women by hosting a White Ribbon event - whether it be online or in person - and invite people to join you in committing to ongoing action.
We have compiled links to various resources for those wishing to find out more about domestic and family violence.
